Kim Boutin is an interdisciplinary practitioner and thinker focused on digital technology’s impact on our world. Operating as a creative strategist, designer, educator, and researcher, she navigates a wide range of fields with a transversal approach.
With 15 years of experience working in digital, Kim has acquired a thorough understanding of the industry through various perspectives. Her approach focuses on multiple disciplines and how each interacts with digital culture.
Starting her career as a designer at the Dassault Systèmes think tank and DESIGNStudio, Kim has always explored interface paradigms for new technologies. She then transitioned to work with a digital advertising agency, where she specialised in user experience design and art direction for fashion and luxury brands. Kim has worked internally at LVMH, having helped position KENZO at the top of cutting-edge technologies under the creative direction of Carol Lim and Humberto Leon.
After redesigning KENZO's eCommerce experience, Kim relocated to London and co-founded digital design agency DVTK →↓↑← in 2015. Her work has been commissioned by renowned brands in lifestyle, beauty, and fashion–including Bottega Veneta, Apple, Christian Louboutin, Dior, Galeries Lafayette, Nike, Maybelline, Coperni, Farfetch–to create unique digital interfaces. Her projects have received nominations and awards, including FWA, Webby, and Awwwards. In 2021, DVTK →↓↑← launched loadmo.re, the first website design inspiration showcase dedicated to mobile interfaces. The website has become a worldwide reference for interactive design.
In 2022, Kim collaborated with social anthropologist Prof. Henrietta Moore to create an interactive installation for Barbican Centre. That same year, her collective piece, *The Skin of Ruins*, entered the collection of ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe.
Kim regularly works as an expert advisor for trend forecasting agencies, researching future consumer behaviours. She has spoken at conferences about digital design, future technologies, and innovation at The Future Laboratory, London Design Festival, Decoded Fashion, University of Arts London, Future Girl Corp, and the Luxury Innovation Summit.
Kim has always been driven by a commitment to education, with involvement in major international arts schools, including KABK, The Slade School of Fine Art, London College of Fashion, and ECAL. In 2020, she was accepted to join a practice-led research Master’s program at Paris Nanterre University, where she wrote *Glitch in the Meta*, a research thesis about the history of the internet. Her sharp analysis spans the early stages of the Internet to ultra-contemporary web3 innovations, aiming to chronicle an ever-evolving digital landscape.
Kim is a visiting lecturer at London College of Fashion and jury member of The Drum Design.
