Ngo Chun Phoenix Tse – MA/MFA
My works across the medium of film & video, text, performance and installation to explore the narrative structure of history and culture. There were two main themes in my works, the perception of narrative and the definition of “history”. There is an underlying relationship between the two concepts and they are bound to each other yet affecting each other. Through the practice of images, the historical relationships embedded in archival images, trace-images, and derived images directly confront spectators. My artistic practice attempts to use film and video as a writing tool for exploring the micro-histories and bringing different image-regimes and narrative modes into correspondence.
