Antonia Caicedo Holguín
Antonia Caicedo Holguín – MA/MFA/PhD
Based in London
Antonia Caicedo’s practice is autobiographical, interested in depicting the complexity of human experience. By combining life, memory, and imagination Caicedo depicts chronicles of her life, friends and family. Influenced by Latin American literature and music, her practice is rooted in a personal sense of identity. Her work often depicts fleeting moments of intimacy, or the lack of it, and even moments of solitude. Often the subjects of Caicedo’s paintings seem to be in introspection, in a state of self awareness, or lost in reverie. Her practice depicts psychological states of being. These depictions are autobiographical, a sort of ongoing self-portrait.
