Gabrielle Bejani – MA/MFA/PhD

Based London and Paris

In my practice lies a concrete commitment to dream a queer feminist utopia, one in which we approach sex, intimacy and love with joy, curiosity, care and malice. I want to  participate in attempt to reinvent sexual scripts so that pleasure can be the prerogative  for all. I don’t believe I have any of the answers, I’m just at the beginning of exploring ideas and venturing in unknown territories. The questions I’m using to guide my
searches are:
What is a desirable masculinity from the perspective of the feminine? What is masculinity without patriarchy? What are, and what can be the realm of feminine desire? Is it possible to escape the sexual binary of submission and domination? Finding answers to these questions is part of a long venture that can be called queering heterosexuality.
Each one of my pieces are for me a field of investigation, where I try to conceive how to love, desire and fantasize with cheerfulness and integrity. But also where I celebrate the relationship to our consciousness, as a space of poetic complexity to cherish and explore.
