Hannah Uzor – MA/MFA/PhD
Based in London
My research-based practice is driven by my interest in history, diasporic culture, personal and public memory. In seeking to critique how the historical narrative is constructed I have explored themes related to race and erasure and the complexities of the 'Black' identity and experience, African diasporic identities and cultural hybridity. The act of searching, observation and the physical manifestations of this process are equally as important as the research material that is discovered. My work is informed by references from archival images, historical paintings, family photographs and literature.
