Kate Towsey – MA/MFA/PhD

Kate Towsey is a British artist based between London and Cambridge. Through performative sculptures, her work explores memory, loss and our connection to receptacles that store memories. Her use of familiar materials that perform their own instability questions our investment of meaning and emotion in domestic objects, as well as their ability to provide stable reflections of our identities. In her practice, she plays with the tension between the pain and catharsis of the inevitable degradation of memories, highlighting the fundamental creative-destructive nature of remembering.
