Sam Ge 葛小川 – MA/MFA/PhD
My studio practice is rooted in the intersection of math and geometry, expressed through a variety of mediums like metal, fabric and plaster. By exploring the physical and the visual, I aim to navigate the delicate interaction between works, space, and the observer. From installations and sculptures to paintings and videos, I use a multi-faceted approach.
I'm fascinated by personal experience, structures, space, and how these elements influence our perceptions. My focus is on intuitively understanding space in its simplest form. In my work, I strive for the primitive, the basic, and the succinct. I aim to shape an atmosphere from my experiences, intending to subtly influence the audience's mood.
