Kate Harrison – BA/BFA

My practice explores the contingencies in our lives that hinge on the delicate and the violent. Through material-led minimalist sculpture I explore the paradoxes in illusionary security within commonly held assumptions of class structures, familial relationships and sexuality. I am interested in challenging coercive economic powers and subtle hierarchical systems that are invasive in both public and private lives. The labour in my making materialises the administrative apparatus of industry to create austere work that does not seek to answer but to confront lived reality within the absurd.
