Drawing on elements of popular culture, magical realism and notions of the grotesque, my recent work has engaged with the knottiness of desire in intimate relationships, the complexities of masculinities and of belonging, and the urban life of contemporary Italy. Reflecting on methods of storytelling in painting, I am interested in porous spaces in which there is an ambivalence between psychological realities and physical ones.
