Building on the Slade’s strong reputation for performance work by students and staff, and the large number of current students working in diverse ways with the medium, the first Slade Performance Day offered an innovative, non-hierarchical platform for discussion for over sixty Slade staff and students (from BA/BFA, MA/MFA, MPhil/PhD) to share their work and research in performance.
Organised into themes such as Documentation/Self-Reflexivity/Audience, Body/Politics/Identity/Labour and Time, presentations by twenty students and staff were followed by panels of lively discussion and thought-provoking debate around the ideas and common interests that emerged from the individual presentations. The Slade Performance day was organised by Hayley Newman and Carey Young and took place at the Slade Research Centre, Woburn Square, London WC1 on Friday 15th February 2013, 10.00 – 5.30pm.
