Teachers' Bursaries 2023
The Slade Summer School bursary scheme is designed to enable art teachers from state secondary schools and FE Colleges to attend a range of summer school short courses free of charge. This year we are offering two places to teachers on each of the following courses:
Colour in Practice
7 - 11 August / 1 week

Observation and Colour- Still Life Painting with Eye and Brain
14 August - 18 August / 1 week
Course leader: Kate Hopkins
Material and Perception
21 August - 25 August / 1 week
Course leader: Malina Busch
The Art of Looking
16,17,18 August (3 days)

Description
The Slade summer school short course programme provides a variety of courses for all levels of experience.
Through the various courses teachers will get the opportunity to:
- Gain teaching and learning resources through discussion and experience
- Develop an understanding of how the first principles are addressed, received and valued outside of a school environment.
- Establish a dialogue with university tutors and art students about how to best support their students in applying to study Fine Art at university.
- All students/teachers are also welcome to attend free evening events offered throughout the summer on the Slade Summer School Extra Curricular programme that includes artist talks and exhibition openings.
Applications and entry requirements
- All teachers must be teaching art at a state school or FE college
- We require the participants to fill in a brief application stating their school, the level they teach and why they would like to attend this course.
- We would also require all successful applicants to complete a feedback form once completed.

Additional Information
The bursaries will cover the course fee and some basic introductory materials. Teachers will need to bring their own art supplies.
All courses will take place at our Bloomsbury campus.
All successful applicants are expected to commit to attend each day, 9.30am to 4.30pm, for the dates of courses they have applied for.
We will inform successful candidates within a week of the closing application date.
Detailed information about the course including materials list and a timetable will be sent to successful candidates a month before the courses starts.
