Started by its self-appointed A&R Harry Bix as a series of music performance nights called ‘Album Launch’, it has developed into a stage for releasing new music that explores the characteristic of wanting more and giving up. Looping optimism; transport infrastructure; aggy lost love; self-help; bad drumming and skipping CDs are themes explored in R&D by artists including Sweatlana, CHING CHING CHING CHING, Freddy Foxxx, Ziad Nagy, East Anglia Records in house DJ Mary Vettise, Sarah Boulton and others.
East Anglia Records (hand)makes nights, albums and merchandise. These include ‘Later with.. East Anglia Records’ for Lea Collet’s Circular Stream Corporation TV, showing artists including The Chris Earley Experience, Harriet Rickard and India Nielsen. Additionally, ‘East Anglia Records compilation album’ was launched at Assembly Point this October, listed as one of AQNB’s top Frieze fringe events.
In the coming months East Anglia Records will put out its second compilation album, solo albums by Leo Niberal and Slossy and will perform at ICA’s NO SCREENING with Sounds like curated by Cristine Brache with supporting compilation.
